The University of Kaiserslautern-Landau was founded in 2023 from the TU Kaiserslautern and the Campus Landau of the University Koblenz Landau. In 1970, the then TU Kaiserslautern was the only technical university in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Despite its relatively young age, it has established itself as a center of research excellence and has achieved top positions in the overall German rankings. It is one of the top universities in Germany for the study of electrical engineering and information technology. The university has many cooperation projects with industrial partners in Germany and Europe.
