Design and Implementation of a Smart Home Monitoring and Visualization System with Custom Sensor Nodes

Assignment:

In this work, a system for smart home monitoring and visualization based on modern technologies (MQTT, Matter) shall be developed and implemented. Besides a server system running on a more powerful architecture, custom sensor nodes based on an ESP32 Microcontroller shall be developed and implemented. Those sensor nodes shall use the Matter protocol for communicating with the server.

Background:

Matter is a new, vendor independent, and open standard for smart home applications based on modern technologies like IPv6, Ethernet, WiFi, and Thread/Zigbee. In this work, besides exploring the Matter standard, a first smart home system based on custom Matter compatible components shall be developed and implemented.
