The 1st International Workshop on Trade-offs in Consumer Communications: Security, Usability, Privacy, Efficiency, and Resilience (TraCoCo'27) will be held in January 2027, in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC)

Scope of the Workshop

In next-generation communication networks, performance can no longer be judged solely by throughput, latency, or QoS. Increasingly, sovereignty, security, resilience, and sustainability determine whether systems can be trusted and operated over time. Yet these objectives are deeply interdependent and often conflicting, making their joint optimization a key challenge. The TraCoCo workshop addresses this challenge in the era of AI-enabled infrastructures. It explores how control, protection, service continuity, and environmental responsibility can be balanced across 6G, non-terrestrial, edge, IoT, industrial, and critical infrastructure environments. By bringing together academia, industry, and public-sector stakeholders, TraCoCo promotes architectures, metrics, and operational strategies for trustworthy, scalable, and measurable network solutions across diverse deployment scenarios worldwide.

Suggested topics

Suggested topics of interest are given below, but are not limited to:

  • Trade-offs among security, usability, privacy, efficiency, resilience, and network quality in consumer ecosystems.
  • Architectures and design principles for secure, usable, privacy-preserving, efficient, and resilient consumer communication networks.
  • Metrics, key value indicators, and benchmarking methods for multidimensional, user-centric network evaluation and operation.
  • Privacy and digital sovereignty in future consumer ecosystems, including user control over personal data, smart home interoperability, and vendor diversity.
  • Methodologies and solutions to identify, assess, and mitigate trade-offs between security, usability, performance, energy-efficiency, and sustainability in communication networks.
  • Resilience mechanisms for consumer networks, including redundancy, recovery, graceful degradation during outages, and complexity reduction for the end-user.
  • AI/ML methods for secure, resilient, and efficient network operation, including trustworthy, explainable, and privacy-preserving edge AI.
  • Root-of-trust, Zero Trust, and security, privacy, and resilience challenges in integrated sensing, localization, cloud, edge, IoT, non-terrestrial, and critical infrastructure networks
