New Juniorprofessor for Serious Games Engineering appointed
Serious Games? Seriously?!
Indeed! Our world has never been so connected and communicative as today. Future concepts like the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, oder autonomous mobility come with big challenges. Not only the development of such systems requires modern and agile approaches, also the users need novel and intuitive ways for interacting with the digital world of tomorrow.
Already today, Computer games contain a number of elements that have a huge potential for meeting those challenges. The research area "Serious Games Engineering" investigates how those concepts can be transferred to real-life applications successfully. Examples are artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), or the meaningful visualization of complex data and relations.
Thus, we are very happy to announce that Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marc Herrlich will join our department on February 1, 2017. Prof. Herrlich has studied computer science at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany and received his PhD from the University of Bremen. His research interests are computer graphics, visualization, geometric modeling, mixed reality, multi-touch interfaces, surface computing, and serious games. In particular, he will support our study programs bachelor and master of communications and media engineering.
